         Friday June 30, 2006-Udaleku Final Performance at Basque Clubhouse at 1pm for parents, hosts & anyone interested.

 

5:30 - 6:00 pm
     Book signing in the Western Folklife Center gift shop with Nancy Zubiri
     author of A
Travel Guide to Basque America: Families, Feasts & Festivals.

 

6:00 -8:30 pm “Festival Kickoff”- dance and game exhibitions followed by

   “Running From the Bulls” in front of Stockmen’s Hotel

 

6:30-7:30pm Western Folklife Center Exhibits Opening Reception –Walter Piehl-Artwork       on display.

7:30 – 8:30pm Western Folklife Center

     Making West Home: An Evening of Food & Stories with

Saturday, July 1, 2006

 7:15 a.m. signups for 5K at Basque Clubhouse  if interested call Cody Krenka   738-6479

 

 9:15 Paella contest-submit entry at Folklife Center 1st $100, 2nd $75, 3rd $50

 

 9:30 to 11:30am Western Folklife Center A Cooking & Story Workshop with

   Chef Aurianne Ugalde  $15 for the workshop

   Register by calling the Western Folklife Center at 738-7508

 

 

11am Parade starts meet in front of Crystal Movie Theatre

 

1:00 -5:00 pm  Old Country games-Basque Dancing-Food &Vendors  at the Elko County Fairgrounds

 

               6 pm Handball  at city park

 9 pm Kantari Eguna-$5 if you arrive between 8:30-9:00 pm , after that $10.

Sunday, July 2nd  

 City Park

               9:00 am  Handball finals city park

 

                10:30 am Sheepherder Bread Contest-Present Dutch oven breads for contest at  city park.

 

                11am Catholic Mass, Aita Martxel Tillous presiding

 

                12 pm Great Steak/Lamb Meal served, children’s portions available

                Dancing, games and contests throughout the afternoon

 

Monday, July 3rd

Tuesday, July 4th

                6 pm Thank You Dinner and Fireworks for volunteers that made the Festival & Udaleku a success
